Our Governing Board
The Governing Board is made up of 10 governors. Some of our governors are co-opted governors; these are governors with key skills in a range of areas; they can also be parents or carers of children at the school. 6 of our governors are also parents. We also have 2 associate members who support the Governing Board.
The purpose of governance is to provide confident and strong strategic leadership which leads to robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.
All governance boards, no matter what type of school or how many schools they govern, have three core functions:
• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;
• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and
• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.
To perform these roles our Governing Board has one formal meeting and one informal meeting each term. We also have two committees: Pupil & Curriculum and Finance & Premises. Each committee meets termly. Both report directly to the full Governing Board. In addition, link governors are actively involved in all aspects of school life and in a range of other working groups and meetings. All governors have at least one ‘link’ governor role.
Governors can be contacted via the school office or via email at: firstname.lastname@example.org
