Our Governing Board

Introduction

h

The Governing Board is made up of 10 governors (a staff governor, two parent governors, a Local Authority appointed governor, and six co-opted governors (some of whom are also parents of children in school). Our governors have key skills in a range of areas. We also currently have one associate member who supports the Governing Board.

The purpose of governance is to provide confident and strong strategic leadership which leads to robust accountability, oversight and assurance for educational and financial performance.

All governance boards, no matter what type of school or how many schools they govern, have three core functions:

• Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction;

• Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of the organisation and its pupils, and the effective and efficient performance management of staff; and

• Overseeing the financial performance of the organisation and making sure its money is well spent.

To perform these duties our Governing Board has one formal meeting and one informal meeting each term. We also have three committees: Pupil & Curriculum, Finance & Premises, and BASP & Nursery. Each committee meets termly and reports directly to the Full Governing Board. In addition, link governors are in place, seeking insight into a particular area. Governors are actively involved in other working groups and meetings too.

Governors can be contacted via the school office or via email at: office@endonhall.staffs.sch.uk
